Thirteenth Kathisma

Psalm 91

It is good to confess unto the Lord, and to sing psalms unto thy name, O Most High: to proclaim thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night, upon a psaltery of ten strings, with a song upon the harp. For thou hast gladdened me, O Lord, with thy work, and in the works of thy hands will I rejoice. How great are thy works become, O Lord, exceeding deep are thy thoughts become. A foolish man shall not learn these things, and a stupid man shall not understand them. When sinners sprang up like grass, and all the workers of iniquity flourished, that they might be destroyed for ever. But thou, O Lord, art most high for ever; for behold thine enemies, O Lord, for behold thine enemies shall perish, and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. And like the unicorn shall my horn be exalted, and mine old age with rich mercy; and mine eye hath looked upon mine enemy, and mine ear shall hear the evildoers that rise up against me. The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree; like the cedars of Lebanon shall he increase. They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. In rich old age shall they increase, and they shall be well received, so they may declare that the Lord our God is upright, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Psalm 92

The Lord hath become King, with beauty hath He clothed himself; the Lord hath clothed himself with power and hath girded himself: for He hath established the world, which shall not be moved. Thy throne is prepared of old: thou art from everlasting. The rivers have risen, O Lord, the rivers have raised their voices: the rivers shall lift up their waves, from the voice of many waters. Wondrous are the billows of the seas; wondrous is the Lord on high. Thy testimonies are exceeding faithful: holiness belongeth to thy house, O Lord, unto length of days.

Psalm 93

The Lord is a God of vengeances, the God of vengeances hath spoken boldly. Exalt thyself, O Judge of the earth; render a reward to the proud. How long shall sinners, O Lord, how long shall sinners boast? Shall they utter and speak unrighteousness, shall all the workers of iniquity speak? Thy people, O Lord, they humbled, and they afflicted thine inheritence. They slew the widow and the orphan, and they murdered the stranger. And they said: The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob understand. But understand, ye foolish among the people, and ye unwise, learn wisdom at last. He that planted the ear, doth He not hear? or He that formed the eye, doth He not perceive? He that chastiseth the nations, shall He not rebuke, He that teacheth man understanding? The Lord knoweth that the thoughts of men are vain. Blessed is the man whom thou shalt chastise, O Lord, and out of thy Law shalt thou teach him: to give him rest from evil days, till a pit be dug for the sinner. For the Lord shall not cast off his people, and his inheritance He shall not forsake: until righteousness return unto judgment, and all the upright in heart do keep to it. Who shall rise up for me against the evildoers? or who shall stand with me against the workers of iniquity? If the Lord had not helped me, my soul had almost dwelt in hell. If I said: My foot is moved, thy mercy, O Lord, helped me; according to the multitude of my sorrows in my heart, thy comforts gladdened my soul. Let not the throne of transgressions stand before thee, O Lord, which frameth mischief by an ordinance. They shall hunt after the soul of the righteous, and shall condemn inno cent blood. But the Lord is become for me a refuge, and my God is the help of my hope. And He shall render unto them their transgressions, and according to their wickedness shall the Lord our God destroy them.

Psalm 94

Come, let us rejoice in the Lord; let us shout unto God our Saviour: let us come before his face in confession, and in psalms let us shout unto him. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King over all the earth. For in his hands are all the ends of the earth, and the heights of the mountains are his. For the sea is his, and He made it; his hands fashioned the dry land. Come, let us worship and bow down before him, let us weep before the face of the Lord that made us: for He is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, during the day of temptation in the wilderness, when your fathers tempted me; they tempted me, and saw my works. Forty years was I offended with that generation, and I said, They do always err in their heart, but they learned not my ways. Therefore I sware in my wrath: They shall not enter into my rest.

Psalm 95

Sing unto the Lord a new song; O sing unto the Lord, all the earth! Sing unto the Lord, bless his name: proclaim his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all the gods. For all the gods of the nations are demons: but the Lord created the heavens. Confession and beauty are before him, holiness and magnificence are in his sanctuary. Give unto the Lord, ye kindred of the nations, give unto the Lord glory and honor. Give unto the Lord the glory due his name: bring sacrifices, and enter into his courts. Worship the Lord in his holy court; let all the earth be moved before his face. Say it among the nations, that the Lord hath become King: for He hath estab lished the world, which shall not be moved; He shall judge the people in uprightness. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof. The fields shall rejoice, and all things therein; then shall all the trees of the forest rejoice before the face of the Lord, for He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth: He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth.

Psalm 96

The Lord hath become King, let the earth rejoice, let the many isles be glad. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the accomplish ment of his throne. A fire shall go before him, and shall burn up his enemies round about. His lightning shone forth upon the whole world; the earth saw it, and trembled. Mountains melted like wax before the face of the Lord, before the face of the Lord of all the earth. The heavens declared his righteous ness, and all the people saw his glory. Let them all be ashamed who worship graven images, who boast in their idols: worship him, all ye his angels. Zion heard and was gladdened, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord. For thou art the Lord Most High over all the earth, thou art exalted exceedlingly far above all gods. Ye that love the Lord, hate evil things: the Lord guardeth the souls of his Saints, He shall deliver them from the hand of the sinner. Light is risen to the righteous, and gladness to the upright in heart. Rejoice, ye righteous, in the Lord, and confess the memory of his holiness.

Psalm 97

Sing unto the Lord a new song, for the Lord hath wrought wonders: his right hand, and his holy arm, have saved him. The Lord made known his salvation; before the nations He revealed his righteousness. He remembered his mercy to Jacob, and his truth to the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth saw the salvation of our God. Shout unto the Lord, all the earth; O sing, and rejoice, and sing psalms. Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and with the voice of a psalm; with the brass trumpet, and with the voice of the trumpet of horn: sound the trumpet before the Lord King. Let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof, the world, and all that dwell therein. Rivers shall clap their hands together; mountains shall rejoice before the face of the Lord, for He is come again, He is come to judge the earth: He shall judge the world in righteousness, and the people in uprightness.

Psalm 98

The Lord hath become King, let the people rage: He that sitteth upon the Cherubim, let the earth be moved. The Lord is great in Zion, and high above all people; let them confess his mighty name, for it is fearful and holy. And the king’s honor loveth judgment: thou hast prepared uprightness, and wrought judgment and righteousness unto Jacob. Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool, for He is holy. Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and He heard them. In the pillar of cloud He spake unto them: for they kept his testimonies and his commandments, that He gave them. O Lord our God, thou hast heard them: O God, thou wast merciful toward them, yet avenging all their inventions. Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship on his holy mountain: for holy is the Lord our God.

Psalm 99

Shout unto God, all the earth: serve ye the Lord with gladness, enter in before him in joy. Know that the Lord himself is our God. He made us, and not we ourselves: but we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with confession, into his courts with hymns: confess him, praise his name. For the Lord is good, and his mercy is forever, and his truth even to generation and generation.

Psalm 100

Mercy and judgment will I sing to thee, O Lord; I will sing psalms and be wise in the way of blamelessness. When wilt thou come unto me? I have walked in the innocence of my heart, in the midst of my house. I have set before mine eyes no unlawful thing; I have hated the transgressors of the law. A perverse heart did not cleave unto me; the evil man that turneth away from me I have not known. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I drive away. With him that hath a proud eye and an insatiate heart I have not eaten. Mine eyes are upon the faithful of the land, to have them sit with me; the man that walketh in the way of blamelessness, the same hath ministered unto me. He that worketh pride hath not dwelt in the midst of my house; he that speaketh unrighteousness hath not stood before mine eyes. In the morning have I slain all the sinners of the land, that I might utterly destroy all the workers of iniquity from the city of the Lord.
